Dell slows PC supplies after overclocking Q2, HP Inc. boots up Global personal computer shipments increased by 11.2% year over year in Q2 according to IDC. COVID-19 has driven increased work-from-home demand with U.S. sales having expanded by 13.8% to 21.4 million machines. Back-to-school sales could further boost sales in Q3. U.S. imports of all computer types likely climbed 14.1% higher in Q2 compared to a year earlier including a 21.8% surge in seaborne imports in June. Dell has led the pack with a 60.9% year over year rise in U.S. seaborne shipments linked to the firm in Q2, but there may be a slowdown with shipments off by 2.0% in the first half of July. HP Inc. has been later to the party and accelerated shipments from a 3.2% growth rate in Q2 to 163% at the start of July.
